Power Point Karaoke

The easiest science karaoke to make is with an existing science song so that is what we will start with. I'll use the hit tune by Zaret and Singer, Why Does the Sun Shine, from the album Space Songs. This version, sung by Tom Glazer, has vocals with the music - which is a good thing - so we'll know how to sing it!

Slides

The first task is to make the slides. I use a very simple layout: black background, a single image and simple white text in a font that is big enough to read when projected. I get most of my images from the internet. The trick is to break the lyrics up into chunks that can be sang easily. I also use the same image for more than one line of lyrics so it doesn't change too much and become distracting. Also, forget using fancy slide transitions like dissolves or wipes. They take too long and will mess up your timing.

Most importantly, keep the lyrics at the same level so they don't jerk around from slide to slide. The easiest way to do that is to copy your first finished slide and then replace the image and text so they remain in the same spot. That's what I do. You can also use the ruler in the slide view menu.
