Linking Music
My MS Office 97 PowerPoint can play only wave sound files (extension .wav). This tutorial is for a PC computer. (Mac users can adapt the directions.) You can insert a wave file the following way: while in Slide Sort view, right mouse click on the slide where you want the song to start playing and select SLIDE TRANSITION.
In the SOUND field menu, scroll down and select OTHER SOUND. Find the wave file on your computer and select it. PowerPoint will lock up for a minute as the computer plays the file. As soon as it starts playing it should unfreeze. Select LOOP UNTIL NEXT SOUND and click on APPLY. Don't choose Apply to ALL! That would make the sound restart on every slide. The sound transition for every other slide should be NO SOUND, which is the default setting (and not "Stop Previos Sound" which would stop the song.) In sum the steps and settings are:
- Slide Transition
- Other sound
- Loop until next sound
- Apply
Now view the show, advancing manually to see how it plays and to practice your timing to have the lyrics sync with the music. Isn't this fun?
